Welcome to My Personal Page
In 2009 I had the opportunity, as a part of the D.A.R.E. program, to visit East Hastings in Vancouver. The goal was to talk to those living on the streets to hear their stories and bring back any messages they wanted me to share with the Grade School kids we would be talking to.
Some occupants of the streets never stood a chance from birth, some made poor decisions along the way, some had mental health struggles and some were a victim of circumstance. No matter the reason they were there, the common theme was that no one wanted to be. This is why I would like to help those closer to home.
In Calgary, it is estimated that over 3,500 men, women and children are homeless on any given night, but together we can change this statistic. On November 18th, I will be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Calgary Tournament, raising awareness and funding for four local homeless support agencies right here in the city.
There’s more than one story when it comes to how people end up homeless and that’s why there is more than one way to help. Hockey Helps the Homeless invests in solutions that ensure fewer individuals and families end up on the streets. We support organizations and programs committed to ending homelessness through housing, transportation initiatives, mental health support, education, health and wellness, training and employment, but we need your help.
Be a game changer today by supporting the cause and help bring hope to our most vulnerable!
