On any given night, there are over 1,500 people homeless in the Winnipeg area. Together, I'm confident we can change this statistic.
Being a Nurse that works in Urgent Care and the Emergency Department in Winnipeg, I see personally the effect that Willow Place, RAY, and Red Road Lodge have on people, and how we truly rely on these organizations especially in the winter to help disadvantaged Winnipeggers. Last year this tournament gave 40,000$ to each organization which is pretty huge, and goes a long way to combat homelessness, addictions and ensure long term success of disadvantaged people in Winnipeg.
Willow Place is an inclusive, no-cost family violence prevention services, 24-hours, every day of the year For women and their families.
RAY provides services to those under the age of 29 such as; Housing, street outreach, mental health support, primary health and drop in support.
Red Road Lodge supports Winnipeg's homeless community by operating a single room hotel for 44 people. They support those in recovery from substances and those with mental health issues that struggle with finding temporary housing, which then leads to permanent housing, and recovery. They also support the marginalized community with employment training initiatives to ensure long term success of those in their programs.
On December 16th, I will be participating in the 3rd Annual Hockey Helps the Homeless Winnipeg Tournament which support the above mentioned organizations.
I would be truly grateful for your donation to help out these 3 amazing organizations!
