Hello,
On November 18th, I’ll be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Calgary Tournament, raising awareness and funding for four local homeless support agencies right here in the city. In Calgary, it is estimated that over 3,500 men, women and children are homeless on any given night. But together with the organizations supported by Hockey Helps the Homeless we can change this statistic.
I'm reaching out to ask that you to follow the link below and donate. Any amount is appropriate and donations over $25 will receive a tax receipt. If you're receiving this message, chances are you’ve never had to consider what life might be like without a bed to sleep in or where your next meal might come from. Folks like us haven’t had to consider our survival nor have we had to contemplate the shame that’s leveled on the vulnerable individuals on Calgary’s streets. The stigma against those individuals and families struggling without a permanent shelter perpetuates the cycle of homelessness. A donation, no matter the value, is a step towards erasing that stigma.
With support from groups like Hockey Helps the Homeless, there's hope that every individual living on the street might one day be physically and mentally healthy with a place to call home and a bed to sleep in. HHTH supports organizations and programs committed to ending homelessness through housing, transportation initiatives, mental health support, education, health and wellness, training and employment. But they can't achieve their goals without our help.
Be a game changer today by supporting the cause and help bring hope to our most vulnerable.
