In Edmonton, it is estimated that over 2,000 men, women and children are homeless on any given night, but together we can change this statistic.
This summer, I will be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Canada Life Cup to raise funds and awareness for two local homeless support agencies right here in the city: The Mustard Seed and Jasper Place Wellness Centre.
Right now, Edmonton’s homeless need our help more than ever. Homeless shelters in the city have been drained of funding and resources in order to support the new unprecedented costs they are facing as a result of COVID-19 including additional staffing costs, personal protective equipment (PPE), increased sanitation and food security. Since March, they have been working around the clock to ensure our community’s most vulnerable residents are safe. But they can’t do it alone.
Be a game changer today by supporting the cause and help bring hope to our most vulnerable through these difficult times. Hockey tournament or not, we can be bigger than the game.
