Welcome to my Personal Page!
This Monday, June 6th, I will once again be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Montreal Tournament, raising awareness and funding for over 15 local homeless support agencies in the city.
In Montreal, it is estimated that over 3,000 men, women and children are homeless on any given night. In my native Sherbrooke, I've been shocked to see homelessness spring up right on the streets and under bridges: the first time I've seen the problem "surface" in a non-big-city in my lifetime. With pandemic-era inflation starting to take its toll and likely a coming recession, the situation is only going to get worse: and this after 2 years of aid organizations and others not being able to keep up with the need.
We all need to help, generously, right now.
There’s more than one story when it comes to how people end up homeless and that’s why there is more than one way to help. Hockey Helps the Homeless invests in solutions that ensure fewer individuals and families end up on the streets. We support organizations and programs committed to ending homelessness through housing, transportation initiatives, mental health support, education, health and wellness, training and employment: we need your help.
Wish to donate by cheque? Cheques should be made payable to Hockey Helps the Homeless and mailed to Head Office at 44 East Beaver Creek, Unit #4, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 1G8. Please specify player name (Nick Scheib) in the memo line. Tax receipts will be issued upon receipt of the donation for all gifts $25 and ABOVE
To help incentivize all those able to contribute, I am working with renowned Hovey Manor and its generous owners, the Stafford Family, so that we all can really make a difference:
For the three (3) people (or trusts) who donate the most to my efforts will be rewarded:
->top donor: a 1-night stay (for 2 people) at Hovey Manor, with breakfast and dinner (an over $800 value, so please be generous! some blackout dates apply)
->Each of 2nd + 3rd highest donors: get a gift certificate for a 4-course dinner for 2 at Hovey ($250 value each)
EVERYONE who donates $100 or more to my efforts (by Noon EST June 6) will get a raffle ticket for a blind draw (to be held on-site at the tourney) to win:
->a 1-night stay (for 2 people) at Hovey Manor, with breakfast + dinner (an over $800 value; some blackout dates apply); or
->(second draw) a Warrior Alpha DX Pro Grip Senior Hockey Stick (a $225 value).
So please donate now: its a good cause, and you might get something for yourself too!
