Hockey Helps the Homeless, established in 1996, is one of the top peer to peer fundraising organizations in Canada supporting homeless agencies coast to coast.
Due to COVID-19 we won’t be playing in a live hockey tournament this year. Hockey Helps The Homeless is still raising funds to shut out homelessness across Canada. Working with its national sponsor Canada Life they have created the Canada Life Cup. The Canada Life Cup is a fund raising event whereby participating teams will do what they have always done…fundraise! The only difference this year is we won’t be playing a day of hockey. The Peel Region group of teams will support the same two homeless support agencies they supported last event… Armagh and Regeneration Outreach.
Armagh provides safe, supportive and transitional housing to women, with or without children, who are escaping abuse and provides them with a place to live for an extended period of time.
Regeneration Outreach provides hot and hearty meals, as well as essential supports including healthcare. hygiene and clothing, to men, women & youth living in extreme poverty or those who are at-risk of, or experiencing homelessness.
Right now, these two beneficiaries need our help more than ever. They have had to shift their focus in order to support the new unprecedented costs they are facing as a result of COVID-19 including additional staffing costs, personal protective equipment (PPE), increased sanitation and food security.
Be a game changer today by supporting the cause and help bring hope to our most vulnerable through these difficult times. Hockey tournament or not, we can be bigger than the game.
