Welcome to John Thompson's personal page!
In Waterloo Region, hundreds of men, women and children are homeless on any given night. Together, we can change this statistic
It's my pleasure and honor to serve as a volunteer since the inception of the event when I was Game Day Operations Co-ordinator, and Year #2 when I chaired the Organizing Committee. And, I've remained part of the Game Day event volunteer corps.
During December, I will be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Canada Life Cup campaign to raise funds and awareness for five local homeless support agencies.

As a result of COVID-19, HHTH has had to reimagine what the event could look like in the age of a pandemic. With safety in mind, the event has shifted from a typical tournament format to a reimagined fundraiser where Canadian communities come together to shutout homelessness.
This fundraiser comes with a match from HHTH Waterloo Region Sponsor, Swiftspace. For every dollar raised during December, Swiftspace will match the first $100,000 to shutout homelessness in ou community!
Right now, Waterloo Region’s homeless need our help more than ever. Homeless shelters in the region have been drained of funding and resources in order to support the new unprecedented costs they are facing as a result of COVID-19 including additional staffing costs, personal protective equipment (PPE), increased sanitation and food security. As we enter the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, our beneficiaries are still recovering from the effects of the first. Since March, they have been working around the clock to ensure our community’s most vulnerable residents are safe. But they can’t do it alone.
Be a game changer today by supporting the cause and help bring hope to our most vulnerable through these difficult times. Hockey tournament or not, we can be bigger than the game.
