Help Me, Help Local Homeless Men, Women and Children - All Funds Raised Stay Local!
Welcome to my Personal Page!
In York Region, hundreds of men, women and children are homeless on any given night, but together, we can change this statistic. I am participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH) York Region event as a member of the Universal Logistics Fundraising team, raising awareness and funding for two local homeless support agencies right here in York Region, 360°Kids and Blue Door.
My employer, Universal Logistics, has always been an organization which prides itself on making a difference. For a number of years, we’ve been a proud supporter of the HHTH York Region Hockey Tournament, and for 2020, we’re thrilled to once again be involved as a lead sponsor. As a result of COVID-19, HHTH has had to reimagine what their event could look like in the age of a pandemic. With our safety in mind, they have decided to shift from their typical tournament format to a virtual fundraiser to shutout homelessness. Additionally, Universal Logistics has agreed to make a matching donation for every dollar raised by our employee fundraising team, meaning that your generosity will have twice the impact!
Right now, York Region’s homeless need our help more than ever. Homeless shelters in the city have been drained of funding and resources in order to support the new unprecedented costs they are facing as a result of COVID-19, including additional staffing costs, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), increased sanitation and food security. As we enter the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, our beneficiaries are still recovering from the effects of the first. Since March, they have been working around the clock to ensure our community’s most vulnerable residents are safe, but they can’t do it alone. Any donation, big or small, can take the Universal Fundraising team one step closer to achieving our goal.
Be a game changer today by supporting the cause and help bring hope to our most vulnerable through these difficult times. Hockey tournament or not, we can be bigger than the game.
Wish to donate by cheque? Cheques should be made payable to Hockey Helps the Homeless and mailed to Head Office at 44 East Beaver Creek, Unit #4, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 1G8. Please specify player name in the memo line. Tax receipts will be issued upon receipt of the donation for all gifts $25 and above.
