I look forward to the day when we don't have to lace up for donations to assist thousands of neighbours across Waterloo region lacking stable, safe shelter. But here we are, again. I've been playing HHTH since inception in 2014. Some donors have been along this journey since inception too.
Issues of housing attainment and homelessness have become dire since last year's efforts. It is a humanitarian crisis by any definition, and one with human and financial impacts for all residents. Those who know will know that lacing up with a hockey stick is not my only effort to advance progress on issues of homelessness in Waterloo region: have you heard about the municipal election on 24 October? #MP4RC ;)
It's a privilege to be able to play for an excellent cause. And to play with the only co-ed team locally is extra special, and a testament to the Victorious Secrets that they welcome my consistently declining skills and shortness of breath.
But it's worth it. I really don't like asking but if you can assist towards scoring my HHTH goal, I know it'll help support local people and local agencies who are absolutely crushed by the humanitarian crisis before us today.
With gratitude for all that you do already. Truly.
