Being homeless is like trying to play hockey without a stick
How Can Hockey Help the Homeless?!
I don't see or think of the homeless very much. I have had opinions of the homeless, but not often truly think or know of what really got them there. Does it matter, though? The reason to help is not rooted in how one got there, but rather that they have a desire to get out. In Kitchener-Waterloo, it is estimated that over 3000 men, women and children are homeless on any given night, but together we can change this statistic and along with that, a mind-set. On October 25, I will be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Kitchener-Waterloo Tournament, raising awareness and funding for four local homeless support agencies right here in KW.
There’s more than one story when it comes to how people end up homeless and that’s why there is more than one way to help. Hockey Helps the Homeless invests in solutions that ensure fewer individuals and families end up on the streets. We support organizations and programs committed to ending homelessness through housing, transportation initiatives, mental health support, education, health and wellness, training and employment, but we need your help.
Be a game changer today by supporting the cause and help bring hope to our most vulnerable!
