This November 8th, on Remembrance Day Weekend, I will be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Halifax Tournament to raise awareness and funding for VETS Canada, a very deserving organization that supports homeless and at-risk veterans in Nova Scotia. Some of you may know that my first posting was to 423 Maritime Helicopter Squadron in Shearwater, NS, and I still have many friends and colleagues in the area.
Nearly 20% of all requests for assistance received by VETS Canada hail from Nova Scotia. Since 2014, the organization's volunteers have responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance from veterans in need throughout the province. On average, VETS Canada can stretch $3000 to cover the costs of moving a Veteran from absolute homelessness to permanent housing and healthy living. Thank you for the support!
Wish to donate by cheque? Cheques should be made payable to Hockey Helps the Homeless and mailed to Head Office at 44 East Beaver Creek, Unit #4, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 1G8. Please specify player name in the memo line. Tax receipts will be issued upon receipt of the donation for all gifts $25 and above.
