On April 5th for the 4th consecutive year I will be playing in the Hockey Helps The Homeless Tournament (HHTH) to raise funds for homeless men women and children.
I will be playing on the same team as my son and my 12 year old grandson will help in the Tournament as a volunteer. We are committed to this great event which provides needed relief and comfort to so many and with the wind in my sails from your support I will play our 4 games that day with my heart felt performance, knowing that win, lose or tie this is a Great Victory for the Homeless.
No extra mileage on my carcass, no aching joints or slower stride has kept me from participating this year again because I have seen with my own eyes how every single penny raised goes directly to the Homeless, providing food, safe shelter, clothing, counselling, etc and delivering to them the care they need and the respect they are due.
Four years ago I started working for an organization that served warm lunches once a week to the downtown Homeless. In the past three years HHTH has generously contributed to that program: today it serves breakfast and lunch 6 days a week and this year has rallied over 100 volunteers from the Christian,Islamic and Jewish Communities to prepare and deliver over 6'500 meals to the Homeless in the street. None of this would have been as successful without your generous support of HHTH.
This year, my personal funding goal is $2340 representing $30 for each year of my life that I have had the privilege and good fortune not to have spent on the streets.
Any donation made to this cause is more than a gift to the needy, more appropriately it is an investment in the welfare of our Community, in the dignity of all and in our belief that we continue to make a difference.
Wish to donate by cheque? Cheques should be made payable to Hockey Helps the Homeless and mailed to Head Office at 44 East Beaver Creek, Unit #4, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 1G8. Please specify player name in the memo line. Tax receipts will be issued upon receipt of the donation for all gifts $25 and above.
