On any given night over 6000 youth are homeless across Canada, but together we can change this statistic. On March 1st, I will be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Queen's University Tournament, raising awareness and funding for a vital local youth support agency, the Kingston Youth Shelter.
Many of us have been blessed enough to live in houses with homecooked meals (or Skip the Dishes) and a quiet place to study (or a 10 minute walk to Stauffer Library). For many of us, we have been blessed in that we do not have to experience homelessness. However, there are also many youth who cannot say the same. We have been blessed so that we could be a blessing to others, and one of the ways we can do that is by supporting the Kingston Youth Shelter. The Kingston Youth Shelter is not just a housing shelter, but it also provides nutritious meals, educational support and life skills training to those youth in need. Together, we can help them out and really make a difference.
