Welcome to the Halifax Co-Ed Hockey League Team Page!
This November 8th, on Remembrance Day Weekend, we will be participating in the Hockey Helps the Homeless Halifax Tournament to raise awareness and funding for VETS Canada, a very deserving organization that supports homeless and at-risk veterans right here in Nova Scotia.
Although being one of the smallest provinces in the country, Nova Scotia has the 5th largest population of Veterans - with 42,000 living on the peninsula at any given time. VETS Canada offers emergency services to each and every one of those veterans who find themselves in-crisis or living homeless. That's 42,000 Nova Scotians who may require VETS Canada's services at some point in their lives.
Nearly 20% of all requests for assistance received by VETS Canada hail from Nova Scotia. Since 2014, the organization's volunteers have responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance from veterans in need throughout the province; with the number of received requests growing significantly each year. On average, VETS Canada can stretch $3000 to cover the costs of moving a Veteran from absolute homelessness to permanent housing and healthy living. This includes temporary accommodations, damage deposit, first and last month's rent for a new home, food, clothing and furniture.
Be a part of the change! Please support our worthy cause and help bring hope to those most in need. You can make a difference by donating generously to any of our team members. Together, with your support, we can reach our fundraising goal!
Wish to donate by cheque? Cheques should be made payable to Hockey Helps the Homeless and mailed to Head Office at 44 East Beaver Creek, Unit #4, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 1G8. Please specify player name in the memo line. Tax receipts will be issued upon receipt of the donation for all gifts $25 and above.
